Oceana Fish Oil represents a breakthrough in fish oil
supplementation. These purified oils have virtually no fish odor or
aftertaste. Oceana is pleasantly flavored with natural lemon
formulated specifically to enhance the taste of the fish oil.
Our raw material selection process is rigorous to the extent that
nearly 95% of available raw fish is considered unsuitable for use in
Oceana Fish Oil. Raw fish material is carefully handled. Time and
oxygen will make even the best fish oil rancid. In order to combat
this problem, Oceana developed an antioxidant blend (consisting of
rosemary extract, ascorbyl palmitate and mixed tocopherols) to
assure the product's quality is maintained through its life. With
the inclusion of our proprietary antioxidant blend, the product's
stability is increased by 300%. The oil is perfected by highly
trained Norwegian professionals with extensive experience in the
manufacturing of marine oils. Every batch of Oceana Fish Oil is
extensively tested to insure freedom from environmental contaminants
such as mercury, lead, arsenic, pesticides, PCB's and dioxins. To
further confirm product purity, the oils are assayed for anisidine
and peroxide values (rancidity indicators) - assuring that there
will be no problems with taste, odor or product stability. Our
company maintains exacting protocols with redundant failsafe
measures to assure uniformly pure products.
True Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil
Whether you choose a Oceana fish oil that is minimally processed,
highly refined or molecularly distilled, you are assured the highest
pharmaceutical quality. The oils are manufactured in a
pharmaceutically licensed production facility in Norway according to
pharmaceutical production protocols. Quality control and quality
assurance measures are carefully attended to throughout every step
of the process. The raw material that we use to produce BioMarine
fish oil is carefully selected and is fully traceable by batch. We
offer you the purest natural and molecularly distilled
pharmaceutical grade fish oils available.
Oceana Molecularly Distilled Fish Oil Concentrates
A key benefit of molecular distillation is its ability to create
concentrates and customized fatty acid profiles. Oceana is capable
of concentrating the fatty acids from a natural combined EPA &
DHA content of approximately 30% to products with an EPA and DHA
content as high as 80%. Molecular distillation of natural oil will
result in higher levels of purity beyond what is achieved by other
methods.
Benefits of using concentrates include the following:
- Smaller or fewer capsules to obtain the same amount of DHA/EPA
- Fewer calories due to reduced amounts of oil and gelatin
- Option to add other and larger amounts of complimentary
ingredients
- Complete removal of PCBs, pesticides, dioxins and heavy metals
- Complete removal of compounds that cause bad odor and poor
taste
- Complete removal of oxidative compounds
Benefits of
using natural fish oil include:
- Less treatment of the raw material. Closer to nature.
- Greater amounts of other substances naturally found in fish
oil
- Better taste

It is estimated that as much as 80% of all human ailments are
caused by an inadequate immune response. Minimally Processed Whole
Deep Ocean Shark Liver Oil will assist in regenerating an adequate
immune response as it optimizes blood cell production, strengthens
the walls of healthy cells, and assists in oxygenating the body.
Daily use of Oceana Shark Liver Oil will provide the consumer
with the following benefits:
- An enhanced and strengthened immune system which assists in
protecting the body from viral diseases such as colds, influenza,
herpes simplex (cold sores) and some bacterial conditions
- A natural resistance to some rheumatic and arthritic problems
- Enhanced anti-bacterial activity
- Possible regression of tumor growth, particularly in cases of
uterine cancer
- Possible protection from radiation-induced damage, in
particular the replenishment of our white cells (leucocytes)
Deep Ocean Shark Liver Oil is a complex oils containing
alkylglycerols (AKGs), squalene (present in approximately the same
concentrations as the AKGs), and fatty acids of the Omega-3 group.
Some triglycerides are also present with appropriate levels of
Vitamin A and Vitamin D.
We use select species of sharks whose livers are abundant in AKGs
and squalene. Our oil is processed under the most stringent
conditions. In order to overcome variations and provide a
standardized product, it is necessary to blend the oils from
different species and ages in order to achieve a consistent quality
of oil. The result of such a blend is Oceana's Deep Ocean Shark
Liver Oil, containing guaranteed levels and ratios of AKGs and
squalene together with other important natural fatty acids and
ingredients. These products are sourced from New Zealand, Tasmania,
and the extreme North Atlantic. At the recommended dose levels
(around 1000mg daily), Oceana Shark Liver Oil is safe to take on a
regular basis without the usual concerns relative to the adverse
side effects evident in many modern-day medicines.
Squalene is widespread in nature. Sebum, the body's own lubricant
contains up to 10% squalene. The highest concentrations of squalene
are found in the livers of deep ocean sharks. This compound performs
several very important functions in the body and is an essential
component for good health. In one of its more subtle functions, it
acts as a precursor for the biosynthesis of cholesterol. Because of
its particular structure, the body can use squalene as a raw
material to synthesize this important sterol molecule. Although we
are all now very conscious of the problems associated with high
levels of LDL cholesterol, the fact remains that cholesterol plays a
vital part in our health and is needed for the production of a wide
range of essential hormones including estrogen and progesterone.
Squalene acts as a carrier of oxygen molecules to our cells thus
enhancing metabolic efficiency.
Although it may seem a paradox, squalene is also a valuable
antioxidant. Even though its antioxidant effects are quite separate
from its oxygen-carrying function, both are due to squalene's
unsaturated structure. Antioxidants perform as scavengers, acting to
neutralize the harmful radicals produced by pollutants and
chemicals. In chemical terms, free radicals are molecules in which
one or more of the electrons making up the molecule are unpaired;
this makes them highly reactive with a potential to damage the
sensitive membranes of our cells. By scavenging these free radicals,
antioxidants assist in protecting our cells and tissues from their
harmful effects. Since there are now more than eighty diseases
associated with free radical damage, antioxidants are now regarded
as one of the most important elements in controlling arthritis,
heart disease, diabetes, and other such diseases.
The bactericidal effects of squalene has been known and used for
many years. The fishermen and their families who used deep ocean
shark liver oil for its healing properties were obviously unaware of
how it worked. When applied to the skin, squalene has an excellent
emollient effect, keeping the skin soft and pliable. Squalene is
also considered to have fungicidal properties and topically applied
reduces the potential for sunburn.
Although there are some who claim that the best way to include
squalene in the diet is to take the pure substance in concentrated
form, squalene is most effective in conjunction with alkylglycerols
and Omega-3 fatty acids in a balanced blend of Oceana New Zealand
Deep Ocean Shark Liver Oil.
GlycoMarine, a well researched natural anti-inflammatory
compound, is a proprietary glycogen complex targeting arthritis pain
and joint disease. Oceana Products has pooled a large body of
laboratory and independent clinical research including double blind
placebo controlled studies focused on GlycoMarine. Within the past
twenty-five years scientists have determined the product's mode of
action and efficacy. GlycoMarine is gastro-protective, thus
shielding the stomach from the potentially harmful effects of
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This compound also
uniquely exhibits chondroprotective properties, defending joints
against cartilage degeneration and improving joint function and
mobility. GlycoMarine is a valuable natural therapy whether used as
a complement to other treatments or alone as an alternative
treatment.
GlycoMarine is extracted from the New Zealand green lipped
mussel, Perna canaliculus. At 18 months of age, the mussels are
harvested exclusively from the Coromandel Coast. Within two hours of
harvest, the living mussels are placed directly into the
hydro-extraction process. This quick transfer from harvest to
extraction is critical because the active components degrade
extremely rapidly if the mussel is permitted to die. The extract is
then snap-frozen and freeze-dried, producing the highest quality
bioactive compound possible. In this dehydrated state, GlycoMarine
is quite stable. The product is extensively used for the treatment
of rheumatoid and osteo forms of arthritic disorders in humans and
animals. It is classed as a nutriceutical and has the backing of 30
years of peer-reviewed research to support its pharmacological
activity. The main reason for its extensive use is that it is an
effective natural anti-inflammatory with chondroprotective and
selective cyclo-oxygenase COX-2 inhibitory properties, allowing it
to be used on a long term basis without the complication of
significant adverse side effects.
Pharmacological Functions:
- Anti-inflammatory: Inhibition of a number of
pro-inflammatory neutrophil functions including, neutrophil
emigration, catabolic cytokines and mediation of T-lymphocyte
activity. These functions are a response to the carbohydrate
component of the extract.
- Anti-inflammatory: Inhibition of the cyclo-oxygenase
and 5-lipoxygenase enzymic cascade with COX-2 selectivity. These
functions are a response to the lipid component of the extract.
- Gastroprotective: Protection of the stomach from the
ulcerogenic effects of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This
activity is a response to the lipid component of the extract.
- Chondroprotective: Inhibition of catabolic degradation
of articular cartilage and enhancement of lubrication and
buffering in the arthritic joint. This activity is a response to
the amino acid and glycosaminoglycan content of the extract.
- Pain relief: Due to the inhibition of pain sensitizing
prostaglandins produced in the cyclo-oxygenase cascade, a degree
of pain relief is effected.
Comparison with competitive
products: The primary competition will be that of the
glucosamine/chondroitin sulphate based products. However,
GlycoMarine is superior to these products because it is
multifunctional, has significantly greater anti-inflammatory
activity and also performs the same chondroprotective functions as
these products.
Other competition may also come from look-a-like mussel powders.
The certified anti-inflammatory activity of each batch
differentiates GlycoMarine from imitation products. The relative
efficacy of the product combined with its lack of significant
adverse side effects and natural origin provides a strong
competitive advantage.
Unfortunately, imitation products do not provide the same
beneficial properties as GlycoMarine. Arthritis sufferers may be
wasting money on products that provide no therapeutic value
whatsoever! Typically, the consumer is unable to recognize by
appearance, smell or even by nutritional analysis whether a product
is genuine active extract or simply freeze-dried (lyophilised) whole
mussel meats ground into a powder. The only way to be assured of an
unadulterated and effective product is to request it by the brand
name, GlycoMarine.
These imitation products are nothing more than simple freeze
dried whole mussel powder which contains only a miniscule amount of
active compound. Moreover, because the whole mussel powders are
prepared from dead mussels, even the small amount of active
ingredient present degrades into ineffectiveness. Additionally, if
the extract is not stabilized during the extraction process it
becomes nearly worthless. Because mussel powders (as opposed to
mussel extract) are made from frozen mussel meat, and in some cases,
even from cooked mussel meat, the activity of the delicate
biochemicals has been lost or destroyed. This fact does not show up
in a nutritional analysis but is established by a special
anti-inflammatory index test (AI) which was specifically developed
by a team at Massay University in New Zealand to verify that
production batches of GlycoMarine have an acceptable level of
bioactivity. This test is currently conducted on every single batch
of GlycoMarine by an independent testing laboratory.
There is one other mussel extract product currently being
marketed which contains only the lipid (oils and fats) fraction of
the mussel, which have been solvent extracted, mixed with soybean
oil, and presented in soft gelatin capsule form. Although this
product has some of the activity I have described for GlycoMarine,
it contains only one of several active fractions present in
GlycoMarine. Therefore, it is much less effective than the complete
extract. We feel very strongly that people suffering debilitating
conditions such as arthritis, should not be paying for products
which lead to false hope and eventual disappointment. We firmly
believe that the combination of this evidence, together with
independent clinical trials in humans and in animals, proves the
value of GlycoMarine as a safe and effective treatment for one of
the world's most debilitating diseases.
