Omega-3 Fish Oils:
It was Drs. Hans Olaf Bang and Jørn Dyerberg's early 1970s discovery that Greenland Eskimos diets, found to be rich in seal oil (a significant source of omega-3 fatty acids) that launched what has to date become more than 19,000 clinical studies on omega-3 fatty acids. The studies have confirmed a host of benefits for those who either supplement with omega-3 fish oils, or who eat substantial amounts of fatty fish rich in EPA and DHA - the principle fatty acids found in these pelagic fish (Oceana's main sources being sardines, anchovies, mackerel and cod).
Speaking of the benefits of omega-3 supplementation, among the well-documented benefits are: heart health, proper brain function, mitigation of brain disorders (bipolar disease, schizophrenia, seasonal mood disorder, aggression), improved blood circulation, improved blood chemistry, reduced inflammation, healthy eye function, healthy brain function, good respiratory function, improved pregnancy, improvements in arthritic conditions, improved diet results and more.
What sets our oils apart?
Oceana Omega-3 fish oils are produced in the world's only NNFA cGMP certified fish oil production facility, which is in Brattvaag, Norway. As impressive as its NNFA certification is the fact that the plant is also drug licensed by the Norwegian Health Authority, putting it into a class all by itself. The plant embraces a proprietary manufacturing process that includes molecular distillation, winterization, deodorization and a non-sophisticated sounding purification process that includes earth clays, which works in a manner similar to the way that a carbon filter pulls contaminants from drinking water. The final step in the process is a very costly series of 3rd-party testing that is done at world-renowned Eurofins in Hamburg, Germany, where each batch of our oil is tested for more than 250 different environmental contaminants, including: heavy metals (like mercury, lead and arsenic), pesticides, PCBs, dioxins and dioxin-like furans, to name a few.
